PACKAGING

The compact size in comparison to my palm

I LOVE THE PACKAGING. It’s sleek and compact and made of plastic; perfect for travel and fit in any handbags, I suppose! It comes with a large mirror, which is very handy if you’re always on the go. It also comes with a sponge. Now, I prefer applying this powder with my Ecotools stippling brush. However, whatever floats ya boat. The color white gives off modern and chic appeals. Maybelline done it well this time. No cheap looking packaging!

THE POWDER

The powder comes in 4 shades, which is a bummer for dusky skin tone babes. I wish cosmetic companies would soon acknowledge the fact that skin tone isn’t universal. I received the one in 03 Natural, which suits my NC40-NC45 complexion. However, I do think that 04 Honey would suit me better.

As mentioned earlier, you can apply the powder using the sponge applicator provided OR by using a powder brush. I prefer the latter one because to me brush gives a more even finish compared to sponge applicator, especially when dealing with powder products.

The powder itself is finely milled, though maybe not as fine as the higher end ones. When I swirl my brush on to the powder, this is what happens:

However, if I just dab the side of the brush head on to the powder, there’d be less fallout. So, usually that’s how I do it. With the price tag, surely I can’t complain.

DOES IT WORK?

As I said before, IT DOES!

I am only having just the powder itself and a lil dab of concealer for that horrendous eye bags and dark circles in the “After” mugshot above. No foundation or BB cream underneath the powder. It does mattify and brighten up my skin tone! In terms of coverage, I would say sheer to medium. The pigmentation on my cheeks are still visible. But this is not a foundation. So, I get that going for me. Also, the finish is not cakey at all thanks to the lightweight formula. The powder comes with an impressive SPF34 PA+++ worth of sun protection. That’s another bonus for us in Malaysia yeah?
